A directed air vent, calorically stimulating the labyrinth in the appropriate manner, is blown into the outer auditory meatus via an exchangeable earpiece. Its flexibility rules out possible injuries or the building up of heat in the auditory meatus. All functions of the HOMOTH air-calorisor are visualized online on a four-line LCD display. Temperatures for cold and warm irrigation can be separately adjusted and saved. To change from “cold” to “warm” you only need to press one key. The duration of the irrigation can be adjusted and saved in the same way. When the pre-programmed air temperature is reached, a signal will appear both acoustically and visibly on the display. The timer for the stimulation can be started by pressing a button on the probe. It is now counting down to zero. Another signal sounds when the irrigation is finished. With its micro processed control mechanism the new HOMOTH air-calorisor can be used universally.
